THIS IS THE PLACE for great food, service, drinks, and cozy ambiance. First visit was Sat. 6/9/24. Mid afternoon. Walked in seated immediately at the bar (our preferred location). Music was old school R&B not too loud you can carry a conversation and get your groove on. Food was beyond good....depth of flavors, quality ingredients, and love went in to every dish. We watched other people enjoying their meals, I wanted to order half the menu... Hubby ate the savory shrimp and grits and I had wings with Mac & cheese. He had a Modelo dark and I enjoyed a refreshing peach cocktail. Then I got the Hennessy cake for dessert and husband got a Tupac drink(Hennessy and champagne). If I could have licked the cake plate clean I would have. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Service was friendly and welcoming. Food came out on time not so fast that you felt like it was a cafeteria, but quickly like made to order fresh. Their menu changes up frequently. The only downside which is no fault of the owners is parking. This is typical Bay Area parking it may take a few times around the block, but it is sooooo worth it. I literally can't wait to go back and try a new dish. Please take the trip to Emeryville and support this local restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant deserves nothing less than a 5 stars. From the moment you walk in the front door this place feels like a family reunion. The folks are so nice here, it reminds me of down south. The food is most authentic and very home made. I drive down 45 min just to eat here. Rob Ben's is the only soul food restaurant that I enjoy in the Bay Area! Hands down it's the best!

3/24/24 review Had to spin the block but this time it was a Sunday and we got turkey and dressing! Delicious! In this photo is a mix of the fish and prawns that are delicious as well as many different sides. Service was excellent too. I have made this my go to for excellent soul food. Music playing was my jams! I'll be back to try the gumbo on Fridays! ------------------------------------- First time here at Rob Ben's. My big Sis is always here when she's in town and raves about the food, but always forgets to bring me. We came after Oakland Fan Fest on a Saturday. The restaurant just opened for the day and I loved the atmosphere. I had a feeling we were going to enjoy our selves. We got the Mama Lynch Combo - 3 Fried Fish, 3 Chicken Wings, 2 Porkchops - 2 sides Mac n Cheese and Greens, extra sides of fries and Yams, and added 2 Green Onion Cornbread Muffins! All of this fed 3 people. I lost all sense of decorum while I was eating, elbows were on the table, hat on my head, finger licking and it was smackin! The food was so good I had to turn my hat to the back! I didn't say a word for 20 minutes - just chewing and dancing in my seat (the music was an Old Skool R&B Mix dream). Once I slowed down and stopped being a glutton, I had a gangsta lean in my booth seat - to the left to the left. Our server was amazing! The family is wonderful, kind, welcoming and friendly. They were putting their feet in everything from the food to the desserts and the drinks! Nothing but love in everything they do. I waddled out the door! 10 out of 10 - highly recommend!

If you're looking for a quick service don't come! This is a small local business who is sometimes short staffed! I'm understanding since nobody wants to work these days Especially in this economy. I definitely forgive the restaurant for taking an hour to bring the food out because the food was 100% worth it. I got yams 8/10 Mac and cheese 3/10 Fried oysters 10/10 Oxtail stew 10/10 Cornbread 7/19 Alcoholic Drinks 10/10 Koolaid 10/10 Today I'm coming back for the drinks, fried oysters and to hopefully try some new stuff. I'm actually on my way back right now! I'm supposed to be cleansing but breaking my fast is worth it for these good a** drinks and food. The vibes give old school. You'll definitely be dancing in your seat!

We arrived just as they were opening on a Friday afternoon. I could smell the aromas as we approached the restaurant!! We ordered the Mama lynch that came with fried fish, fried pork chops, and chicken wings.... Our side selections were the red beans and rice, mans and cheese and an extra side of yams... OMG.. the flavors were smacking.. delicious... flavors popping. So good.. our waitress Shawnee , sorry if I misspelled or got your name wrong, was very polite and attentive. She shared that she made the Mac and cheese and red beans and rice with love and that's exactly how the food tasted, loved Five stars so delicious . When we return to the area, we will be back.

After a long day of shopping for cabinets with my pregnant sister and mom we decided to grab a bite at Rob Ben's. Let me tell you after about an hour of debating where we were gonna go we knew we made the right decision here. We came when it first opened but the service was still exquisite. The staff is super friendly and attentive which is always a plus! They play throwback jams and that's always a vibe. The food was 10/10 would recommend in my opinion. I ordered the po boy with the rice and gravy and the flavor on the sando was everything I needed it to be. I also had had cocktail(not pictured) which was super delicious ! ILL BE BACK

Rob Bens was on the list to try out for a couple of years now. I finally made it in and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, my boyfriend got the fried shrimp sandwich. They are big in size and have the option of lettuce or dry coleslaw. I went coleslaw so it had lotsa crunch. You can choose your sides and I went with greens. (I LOVE greens so much). And then we also ordered an extra side of Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious! Crunchy fried chicken in the sandwich, great seasoning and even the roll it came on was toasted to perfection. It comes with a mildly spicy aioli sauce that was also perfect. I ate every bite down to the bare plate. They have kool aid on the menu but they didn't have any ready that day so the server recommended the brown sugar lemonade. That lemonade was amazing! Next time I go I'm getting some of it with a shot of vodka in it. This place is comfort food all the way with smothered turkey legs and all kinds of fried food. I don't eat seafood, but that didn't matter to me because I enjoyed everything I ate and I'd come back for more. They didn't have the turkey leg that day, but I'd love to come back and try them sometime. I loved it there. TV's everywhere, got greeted nicely right when we walked in, and our server was sweet and attentive. Even the bathroom was impressive. It was a satisfying experience and we love supporting local businesses.
